Issue DSM7 install - No more covers & art

Server Version#: 1.24.0.4930-7000
Player Version#: 4.59.2

Hello,

It’s my first time making a topic, I tried to find out something among the posts but I couldn’t, so please forgive me if I did something wrong. I’m also not a native english speaker.

Like a lot of people I presume, I blindly accepted to update my synology server to DSM 7 and I only see now all the topics to prepare the migration…

My own issue is that my server is now consider as a new one, in autorised server I have my old version still there (DS418play Linux DSM6.2.4) and the new version (DS418play Linux DSM7.0.4). I can’t access anymore the old version.

Everyrthing seems to work fine with the new server, except that I lost all my covers and art (and that was a looooong time spend on it). I still have access to my tracking shows and movies, collections of movies etc… my edited titles, dates and elements are still there. But seems that my setups from my account are all reset. I’ve tried to switch personal agent first, but it changed nothing.

So my question is : are my covers and arts lost, and do I have to restart everything again, or is stere still hope to bring them back ?

Thanks a lot again for all your incredible work with plex and for your help.

@Kalenx

  1. Did you notice the new package now also supports Italian?
  2. When you installed, Did you “Repair” first or did you uninstall Plex (dsm6) first ?

Hello ChuckPa, thanks for trying to help me !
English should be fine thanks, it’s just in case I’m making some mystakes :wink:

I’ve first tried to repair, it was long and my internet crashed.
After that, I believe that I’ve uninstalled it, then uploaded the last version of Plex DM7.

@Kalenx

I know it is instinct to “Repair” but on Synology , this damages Plex because we had to make many changes.

Now, I would like you to please check:

  1. File Station
  2. Plex / Library / Application Support / Plex Media Server
  3. See if “Media” , “Metadata” , “Plug-in Support” and “Preferences.xml” exist

IF they exist,

  1. Package Center
  2. Uninstall Plex + ERASE option
  3. This will remove the broken DSM 7 installation
  4. After all is removed …
  5. Download Plex from plex.tv/downloads (dsm7) package
  6. Make certain “PlexMediaServer” has “Full Control” for all folders and files in the Plex shared folder
  7. The DSM 7 package will check everything.
  8. When it thinks everything is valid, it will start “Installing”
  9. You will have a “Migration.log” file in the Plex shared folder – this will show you progress.

Here are the instructions so you can see.

I’ve followed everything and it seems that I have access to part of the covers, like 35%.
But now I’m refreshing the metadata and seems that things are going back to normal !

Thanks a lot !
