Nothing seems to have changed on my side. I have checked my network, upload speed, …

Which Plex app are you using?

Do you have any issues playing Plex content from within the Sonos app?

I have no issue to play music from my plex media server within the Sonos apps. I can see my Sonos devices within the cast menu from my Plex iOS app and Plex Web App but can’t cast to any Sonos device.

I have exact same issue casting to Sonos. Problems started with android app and now spread to IOS app and Plex.tv GUI, PMP and Plex app in windows. All servers and app are up to date. Started in last few days. Thanks

Am able to still control plex within Sonos app - doing so, however, doesn’t permit access to for example tidal content added to library.

Any help appreciated

I have exactly the same problem.

To the extent helpful to solve this, the failure message I am receiving on android app refers to “error occurred while attempting to play video” - when in fact it is a flac music file. Other error messages when casting to sonos PMP, Plex.tv and web app etc are the more generic “problem playing file”. Odd reference to “video” in case where file is in fact music/flac file. Thanks.

This morning, I can now cast to Sonos from Plex.tv web app, but only here. All other apps/PMP etc still generate error messages. And, the casting at Plex.tv only permits the playing of the first song as described in - Problem with casting to sonos and Sonos plays only one song on android as well as other topics on this issue. Thanks.

Ignore my prior post please - failing again across all apps/Plex.Tv etc. Would appreciate any input from Plex team.

I installed an older version, 16.6.1592, that always played fine.
Now it has the same problem. Is it possible that there is a problem at the Sonos side?

I’ve also been thinking it might be on the Sonos side. I can cast Plex to Apple TV for example without issue. I can also cast from the standalone Tidal app to Sonos fine, however. Something between Plex and Sonos although that is stating the obvious. Thanks.

I am able to cast to Sonos with latest Sonos app and media server.
But I saw this error about video file with mp3 playback via Plex as well btw…

I think it is on the Plex side and probably has more to do with an update for Sonos that was recently announced:

I also have the same problem. When casting flac/mp3 to Sonos I get the error "“error occurred while attempting to play video”. from android/IOS.

Suddenly, today I am able to cast to Sonos on both android and iOS app- but plays only first song and unable to skip ahead. Nothing has changed in my set up.

Check that - this is the case with only 1 of 4 Sonos units integrated into my system. All other Sonos units cannot be cast to via either android and iOS apps.

No improvement on my side. Since the last update I can’t cast from plex anymore. I use the sonos app instead…

I have two Sonos setups. One within my network and one remote. Cannot cast from Plex within network but the remote setup can cast using Plex app. Go figure. This has been the case since update to V1.18.3.2156.
