Plexamp 4.3.0 installed on RPi/Digi2 Pro, optical linked to my Devialet Phantom.
I use Plexamp app for Android as controller.
I play a radio playlist, everythink works well for a many tracks but suddunly i cannot pause the track. Only play icon visible and no action when tapping it.
I had similar problem with 4.3.0 last night … played ok for a while, then same behavior as described above
log files on both of my Pi installs are growing quickly … tons of the messages shown below … don’t know if these are related to the pause issue described here, but didn’t see these in prior release …

my logs posted above should include the time when I was observing this (the Pi playback stops responding to play/pause, or doesn’t respond consistently) … I think it was Aug2 around 8pm timestamp while I was jumping around tracks and making a playlist
have seen it multiple times since then, sometimes during playlist, sometimes during continuous album, once it starts happening it seems to continue until I restart plexamp on the pi
If I look for HttpServer: logs I see a fair number of them in the 8 PM timeframe. I might need some more details around what you’re seeing it ignore, now that you know what to look for.
restarted plexamp on the pi with new logs
connected to pi from plexamp on macos
started playback from the first track of an album
randomly pressed pause/play during the first track
** failed to pause at ~ 7:16pm **
long-pressed play/pause to stop playback
stopped plexamp service
Interesting…it does appear that at 19:16:47 it received a play instead of a pause. I assume that at the time the player UI showed a pause icon? If anything, it appears the flaw would be on the controller side.
Just to clarify, where exactly are you trying to pause from? And might you have the controller logs for this period?
I’m experiencing this too intermittently controlling headless Rpi plexamp 4.3.0 from macos plexamp 4.3.0.
Here’s another data point: it just happened to me and while I was searching around to find where plexamp on macos stores its logs, the next song in my playlist started and that fixed the pause function. I was unable to get pause working on the last track, then the track changed and pause is working again.
I just experienced the issue again trying to pause playback on headless plexamp via the macos plexamp client. I pressed pause (unsuccessfully) a number of times and then quit the macos client and pulled the logs.
I’m not sure if there is anything sensitive in the URLs in there and I don’t want @OttoKerner to yell at me again so I’m going to DM the log excerpt from this episode to @elan .
I restarted plexamp on the mac and playback resumed in the middle of the same track and the pause control was still non-functional. But as before, when the track changed to the next track in the playlist I was listening to, the pause control again returned to functionality.
the first couple of days using version 4.3.0 on both of my pi installs, I observed this issue frequently … couldn’t avoid it
since about noon today, the issue seems to have completely disappeared (frequently pressing play/pause, albums, playlists, jumping around from track to track … not once did it happen)
[edit] ok, always right after posting a comment, of course … it just happened again, this time I was again controlling from MacOS, paused playback on one pi, connected to the other pi to transfer and resume playback of the same track, and immediately I lost control of play/pause on the second pi.
I am having the same problem. Once I initiate a stream to the PlexAmp headless, the PlexAmp controller (on an android phone) no longer reacts to play or pause.
This <> to coincide with the 4.3 upgrade, as prior it worked flawlessly.
I hope this bit of info helps:
I have PlexAmp installed on my desktop (Fedora 36), and when I control the application via PlexAmp on the phone (by connecting to it) - play and pause works fine. This is not headless!
The PlexAmp on the Raspberry Pi is headless, and this has the problem with play and pause controlled via the phone, as well as via the PlexAmp installation on my desktop - safe to say it is isolated to the headless install on the Raspberry Pi. (which I upgraded to 4.3 recently).
Yeah, I can reproduce now, I think what happens is that after the device goes quiescent (after a longer pause), it gets confused about what state it’s in, so the play/pause button is confused.
