I bought a lifetime pass in 2024. Never had a single problem until a week ago. My server is completely gone. I keep being directed to buy a lifetime pass before price increase. I click on my account and it says I have a lifetime pass already. Yet I can’t add any media. I contacted plex billing. They claim I am using a different email. I have been using the same one they told me has a lifetime pass already. I feel like I have been screwed out of my lifetime pass and will be forced to pay 249 or even worse 749. At this point I will burn all my media to dvd and play them that way. Plex has really disappointed me. I went from bragging about my own server and how awesome plex is ,to being screwed.
A Plex Pass has nothing to do with the ability to add media. If you cannot add media, then something else is going on with your server.
Re: Account Info / Plex Pass
You can verify your e-mail address, Plex Pass purchase, etc. in your account settings: https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/account. Your Plex Pass will be displayed below your e-mail address (and above Security). Click on Subscriptions to see information on what you purchased, when you purchased it, etc. (Works for purchases direct from Plex. Unsure if purchased through Apple/Google).
Re: Adding Media
Provide an example of a media file Plex will not add. Supply the path to the file and the file name, including extension. Ex: D:\movies\Avatar (2009)\Avatar (2009).mkv.
Please do the following:
- In Settings → server_name → Library, enable
Scan my library automatically(adds additional info to log files). - In Settings → server_name → General + Show Advanced, enable debug logging. Do not enable verbose logging.
- Restart Plex Media Server
- Wait three minutes for Plex to start and log the startup sequence.
- Re-create the problem. Attempt to add a file to a library.
- After Plex finishes trying to add the file, pull the server log files (settings → troubleshooting) and post the zip file to the thread.
You are completely correct. I had to completely delete everything and uninstall. Once I re downloaded the plex server on windows everything came back. I’m really not sure what happened but I was logged into the very same account I am now. I didn’t care all the stuff was gone because I can just add it back. It was not allowing me to add anything. It kept redirecting me to the subscription page when I already have one. Just a glitch but glad it worked out. Sorry for freaking out. The thought of having to pay 249 was scaring me in today’s economy.
