Issues accessing PMS while connected via ethernet

I have a Nvidia Shield Tube that I am using to access Plex on my TV. Whenever the Shield is plugged in via ethernet I run into issues connecting to the server. Either I can not access my library or if I can the content is so grainy and is being transcoded to 480p, when this happens the play back info says “required bandwidth is 1456kbps and only 1000kbps is available plex”.

When I connect the Shield using Wifi all the issues go away and everything streams as is.

My PMS is a Macbook air which is connected via Wifi.

I have tried doing a reset of my router (Asus AX68U) and still running into the issues.

I am relatively new to the Plex scene and have been scouring for some days with no luck.

Check the Ethernet cable for damage or maybe it’s not rated properly. Or use a different cable to check.

I had a situation similar to what you describe. For me it was a bad cable.
