Issues launching media server

server version#: 1.40.2.8395
I have been unable to launch media server, I can search it from task bar and select it and run as administrator, but I’ve had no luck having the app actually launch since I’ve downloaded it.

anyone have any ways to fix this?

Not 100% sure at what step you’re getting stuck.
Plex Media Server doesn’t have an own native user interface – in order to manage your server, you’ll usually connect via your browser. If you’re on the same machine, open http://127.0.0.1:32400/web in order to finish the server installation. Once the server installation and configuration is done you can also access the server from Plex’ player apps or the hosted web app.

There should be no need to run the server with elevated privileges (Run as Admin).

Edit: I’ve just noticed you had already posted half a year ago… any chance with the questions asked back then?

Edit 2: throwing in some basic support articles in case you’re actually stuck on the server installation / setup.

sorry so I had success using the webb app, but i actually cant see my own library and now when i go to “your media” it just gives me the link to download plex media server, i was under the impression that there was a user interface, i didnt understand what i was downloading the plex media server software for if i was using the webb app, but presently i cant see any of my own media on my browser.

Were you at any point able to setup your libraries inside Plex or has it been like this from the start?

You’ll usually get this behavior if you’re accessing the web app as a different user or if no server has been linked to your account. This can also happen if you previously had a server on the same machine using a different Plex account or if you try to setup the server while being on a different network.

What do you get to see if you open http://127.0.0.1:32400/web in a browser while you’re on the same machine?
Also… can you open http://127.0.0.1:32400/identity in your browser? This should bring up some non-formatted XML message which contains an attribute claimed=„?“, where ? is either 1 or 0. → which one do you get?

thank you for your help.
i was getting an error that said “you are no authorized to access this server”
so i made a new account
i get a “0” after the “claimed”
