Issues playing music libraries for managed users on Nvidia Shield

Hello, been have some problems with managed users playing music libraries on the Nvidia Shields I own.

The main user can play any and all music just fine. The managed user gets "An error occurred while playing this item” message when trying to play anything.

The managed user has no problem playing the music on the web app, android mobile plex app, or the android Plexamp app, just the shield causes issues.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the plex application on the shield to no effect.

I have tested using a brand new managed user and it experiences the same problem.

Interestingly, if I play a song using my main account and then switch user and try to play it with the managed user account, it plays! But only that track, the following track will give the "An error occurred while playing this item” message.

This problem goes away when using Plex Media Server 1.23.5.4862 and earlier. Any ideas on what I can do? Thank you!

Agreed, Experiencing the same issue:
log shows: “QueryParser: Invalid field ‘libraryHubsOnly’ found, ignoring.” for every play attempt.

Version 1.24.0.4930

Windows Server 2019 platform
Node1 - [2x E5-2630v3, 2.4GHz, 8C] [128GB] [300GB]

I tried the latest PMS version Version 1.24.1.4931 and it acts the same way.

I’ve got a similar problem here but with my main user account.
On my computer (web client) and android there is no problem, but on my TV sony bravia I can listen songs but after a while, I’v got this error. Then I cannot read the files I just play some minutes ago.
So I guess this is not related to my files, or a bad file format.

I tried several settings but none of them make it work :frowning:
this is very annoying and frustrating…

Any help would be really appreciated.

Since few days I’m facing the same issue, but on web client it works fine and android can not play any mp3-file.

I’ve reset my whole server, but same issue so maybe it is related to the android app?! As far as I know Sony also uses Android?!

Downgraded to 1.22.0.4163-d8c4875dd and it works like a charm - could be a problem with database migration to the new server version? Maybe the new server version is not compatible with the current Android version?

Same issue here, on app on Amazon Fire devices on Managed Users. But music plays fine on same device if using my own admin user. No issues at all with playing videos for any of the managed users. I tried removing the existing Managed User’s access to Music, then gave them back access, but still no luck.

SOLUTION / WORKAROUND FOUND - Enable Downloads on your managed user. It works!

I’m the only person on the account. So how can I enable downloads?

EDIT: Fixed by upgrading shield app manually on shieldtv pro to: 8.24.1.28493. All good with playing music on ShieldTV.

Same Between this and headless raspberry pi plexamp breaking, I don’t have a way to play my plex music on my hi-fi system.
