Issues Resuming H265

Server Version#: 4.54.5
Player Version#: Latest in all

Ok - I’ve tried this in PMP, Plex for Windows and the new Plex for HTPC and they all do the same. When I stop an H265 video part way and try and resume they either crash or hang. I feel like this worked previously as I’ve been preferring H265 for a while but maybe I rarely stopped part way.

If I use the web player its fine but that’ll be the server transcoding so it seems to be a client issue. I’ve googled it and seen others complaining of the same issue going back to 2019.

Is this an issue with Plex or is it an issue with my client PC which is an Intel NUC (4th Gen i5) with 8GB Ram. Maybe an Intel driver issue, maybe the generation of processor doesn’t do hardware decoding very well??

If I play and pause and its fine, if I start again I can quickly skip forward to catch up to where I’m up to but it won’t start playback from a resume point. PMP just exits and Plex Windows and the new Plex HTPC both just hang.

Hi mobiusnz,
I was a bit confused about your server version at first, you probably mean 1.22.2.4282
image.
Okay I just checked on my side, works just fine. Took an HEVC video, let it play for a minute, stopped playback, started video again with resume@, it shows black for a few frames and then goes on. If I close the player before continuing, it won’t show the black frames at the beginning and just starts. But it should start playing.
You may want to share some logs, and I or maybe someone else will look into them to see what your specific issue is.

All CPU with that hardware. Make sure you have tone mapping turned off.

Because of updates with the server you may need to re-analyze the file.
