I keep multiple versions of some movies, typically SD & HD versions. Recently, I have been working on tweaking my naming conventions to get Plex to recognize them and merge them when I scan my library files. As I occasionally have had to re-scan my library and migrate it, getting this to work will save me a few hours of combing through my library and manually correcting files.
Per these forums, I have adopted the following syntax “Name (Date) - version details” but this does not consistently work with Plex merging the versions only sporadically. I have also tried “Name (Date) [version details]” & “Name (Date) (version details)” with similar results.
Is there any thing else that would be recommended when naming files, or possibly other settings to look at in Plex? Is this something that works inconsistently for others? Thanks in advance for any help.
