Issues with certain media playback

Hello, everyone.

I am having a few problems with Plex and I would value some honest opinions.

Sometimes files wont play back, Plex will have the buffering icon sit there till the cows come home and nothing plays. Most of the files having issues are H.265 encoded, sometimes its not clear what codec the files are using. I believe its to do with my cpu not being able to transcode h.265 and the receiving client just showing the buffering icon. (on my pc VLC media player will play the files)

My plex server is an I7 with 32 gig of ram (see screenshots for specifics.)

Will adding a GPU solve this problem? I was looking at getting a ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 3060 with 12gb of ram.

If adding a gpu to my unraid server wont help what can i do to fix this issue as more and more files are in H.265 I want to be able to take advantage of this codec and play these files.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lets start with some actual specifics.
With one of the files that is having this issue:

1. go to the episode/movie
2. select get info
3. view XML
4. Paste that xml and a copy of your server logs to this thread after attempting to play the media in step 1

If i need to provide any more info, please let me know. Im keen to get to the bottom of this.

Side note, the file i tried playing, if i used the windows app the movie will play but if I use the web player (in my car for example) it will not play at all. Ditto if i play it through the web interface on my pc.

Hi i found another file that wont open on my phone, my wife’s ipad or on my computer when playing through the plex web portal. My pc running the windows plex client can play it however.

Might want to check your settings:

Best guesses where to start looking.

Im new to all this and tried to leave as much on default as possible. Any guidance, help or pointers as to where to start would be awesome.

Ok i figured it out.

I turned off direct play and changed the movies audio profile to 5.1 down from 7.1 and boom it played on my android phone.

Can you show me whete you found the error.

I am having an issue with another movie not playing on mobile devices and it would help if i knew how to find what is wrong.
