Have switched to.a new router. Can’t remember exactly but I think i had a static ip set up, and once i switched to a new router server is offline. I have tried to set everything back as it was but it would not recognise the server - always offline. Anyway, i have rewritten the parameters xml file to trigger server claim - however, when clicking “claim server” nothing happens. I have all permissions for the file (I think) and tried different browsers (i’m on mac) but nothing works, spins for 5s and again claim server. I noticed there are many topics in the past about this issue but don’t see any resolution and of course no plex support available. Has anyone found a solution how to claim server?? Thanks in advance

DSM version?

Installation using Package Center or via Docker?

Inability to claim can happen when Plex Media Server cannot communicate with hosts at plex.tv (which is necessary to claim the server).

This is written for DSM 7. DSM 6 will be similar.

  1. Verify the NAS network configuration (Control Panel → Network).
  • IP address
  • Network mask ← Usually (but not always) 255.255.255.0
  • Default Gateway ← Usually the router IP address. This may have changed when you changed your router
  1. Configure the NAS to use a public DNS server such as 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare), 8.8.8.8 (Google), or 9.9.9.9 (Quad9)

  2. Synchronize the NAS with a public NTP server. Control Panel → Regional Options → Time. Click Update Now. You should see Status = Normal.

  3. Stop Plex Media Server. Wait one minute.

  4. Start Plex Media Server. Wait three minutes.

  5. Now try to claim the server.

If you are running DSM 7 and installing PMS via Package Center (not Docker), follow FAQ 31: Reset / Reclaim PMS on DSM 7 (Not Authorized - Locked Out).

If you still cannot claim the server:

  1. Stop Plex Media Server
  2. Using File Station, navigate to the Plex Data Folder.
  3. Right click on Logs directory and choose Compress to Logs.zip.
  4. Download the zip file and post to the thread (drag into message window).
