Issue with claiming server

Server Version#: DSM 7.0-41890
Player Version#: 1.27.0.5849-7000

Hello there, I had to reinstall plx on my nas server, after the install, the plex web keeps prompting to claim server, when clicked claim it does nothing, goes in circles for some time and stops.
Can someone pls help?

Thanks

@chaitanyaskc

Please stop Plex.

Open FileStation and natigate to “PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server”

Right-click on the Logs folder → Compress to Logs.zip

Download that to your computer then upload it here please and I’ll review.

Not being able to claim is often a symptom of DNS issues and/or external gateway definition.

@ChuckPa thanks for the swift response, please see attached…

Any luck?

Just got back a bit ago. Apologies for the delay.

Your NAS DNS (the network config) has an error or isn’t connected to the internet.

PMS cannot contact Plex.tv to authenticate.

I’m uploading the screen shot here, I have uninstalled and tried to install multiple times, I can assure that I’m connected to the internet

“Failed to repair” ??

Did you click “Repair” in package center?
Repair is not an option in the installer menu.

The error text “Could not complete dialog with Plex.tv” is part of the Plex Claim Token installation option.

While you can connect to the internet, DSM cannot resolve hostnames.

Go to Control Panel - Network - EDIT the interface you’re using as primary.

Check the values for gateway and DNS server are valid.

As example. My modem/router is 192.168.0.1. My DS418j is configured this way.

thanks Chuck,
I was playing around the network settings on my NAS and it looks like it is resolved but I ended up linking with an account that is different from my plex login ID, I created a new plex ID hoping it may resolve. I’m now hooked up with an account that has no plex life pass. Any idea how can I get this fixed?

Thanks

That’s easily fixed. You unlink the server from the account it’s currently using and connect it to your PlexPass account.

I have that already supported by the installer.

  1. Switch your signin to make sure you’re signed into the PlexPass account.

Now,

  1. Uninstall the package with the KEEP option (the default)
  2. Install the same package SPK file again
  3. Use Plex Claim Token option
  4. Click “Get Plex Claim Token”
  5. It will present you with a claim-xxxxx token,
  6. COPY this to your browser
  7. Return to the installer tab
  8. PASTE the token into that box.
  9. Click Next – Next – Next until it starts installing the package.

It will take anywhere from 10-30 seconds longer this time.
The installation scripts will communicate with Plex.tv to get fresh credentials.
When they’ve completed the handshake, it will update your Preferences file and claim the server for you.

You’ll see the “Installation Complete” popup… with additional info that the server was claimed to “XXXXX” which is the account name (your PlexPass count)

PMS will then start (if you’ve allowed it to start after installation).

So I have followed everything in these chains, everything to do with DSM 7. And if I do it one way without the claim-xxx token, I can at least login into the web address and see that the server exists; but cannot click the little claim server grey button as it spins and does nothing.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled an tried permission changes and everything at least a dozen times this week without success. Help please.
