issues with episodes not displaying for three specific TV series

I have three specific TV series where Plex is not pulling down the episode names. It’s displaying the disc title. I’m using FileBot to name the episodes and removing any special characters. Here are examples of my directory structure and naming conventions.

The Adventures of Brisco County Jr
Is display disc title on all episodes (example THE ADVENTURES OF BRISCO COUNTY JR SEASON 1 DISC 1)
\TV Shows\The Adventures of Brisco County Jr\Season 1\The Adventures of Brisco County Jr - S01E01 - Pilot.m4v
\TV Shows\The Adventures of Brisco County Jr\Season 1\The Adventures of Brisco County Jr - S01E02 - The Orb Scholar.m4v

Dukes of Hazzard:
Is display disc title on all episodes (example THE DUKES OF HAZZARD SEASON 1 DISC 2)
\TV Shows\The Dukes of Hazzard\Season 1\The Dukes of Hazzard - S01E01 - One Armed Bandits.m4v
\TV Shows\The Dukes of Hazzard\Season 1\The Dukes of Hazzard - S01E09 - Limo One is Missing.m4v

Space Above and Beyond
Is display disc title on all episodes (example SPACE ABOVE AND BEYOND)
\TV Shows\Space Above And Beyond\Season 1\Space Above and Beyond - S01E03 - The Farthest Man from Home.m4v
\TV Shows\Space Above And Beyond\Season 1\Space Above and Beyond - S01E16 - The Angriest Angel.m4v

I’ve tried numerous suggestions I’ve found out here but to no avail. Any suggestions appreciated!

so to get this straight…
the other episodes of those shows do show up and are properly matched by Plex?
if so… are there episodes with a blue square on their poster (indicating, that 2 or more files have been matched to the same episode)?

##General Tip 1
for naming, ignore any show names from DVDs but go for the show’s name in TheTVDB.com (this is mainly about matching)

##General Tip 2
for disambigious shows, include the year the show first aired in the show’s folder and episode files.

##General Tip 3
give the season folders a 2-digit season number (e.g. Season 01 instead of Season 1).

Good job on FileBot - but…:

What FileBot can’t do is remove possible embedded metadata in the Title Field of MP4/M4V files. Plex will read this info and prefer it over a perfect file name/structure (like the total asshat it is and since Plex Developers REFUSE to move the default location of Local Media Assets!), but you can combat that situation (like hundreds of thousands of other users that don’t need Local Media Assets in the top slot) by moving Local Media Assets to the bottom of every agent list you can find. All tabs in TV Shows and Movies here:
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200241558-Agents
Just drag LMA to the bottom of the list and drop it. If you do have embedded metadata this will cure the issue, if you don’t it won’t matter. LMA will do what it has to from the bottom. Do NOT disable Local Media Assets. You need it - you just don’t need it at the top with tip-top-super-duper-asshat-priority!

Renaming/restructuring is best performed OUTSIDE the library and you may need to write a new bundle for the show or movie so The Plex Dance® was invented:

The Plex Dance®:

  1. remove show/movie from library
  2. rescan library files
  3. empty trash
  4. clean bundles
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200392106-Library-Actions <— scan library files, empty trash, clean bundles
  5. bring names and structures into compliance/Move LMA/etc
  6. replace corrected show/movie into library
  7. rescan library files

All Steps. In Order. No Shortcuts.

Hey Tom - the other episode of the same series do not show either. I was just giving a few examples of the formatting.

JuiceWSA - Thanks for those steps AND especially the links!!! Will give that a go!

So I had done all the steps before with the exception of moving the LMA. Never really understood what that was until you posted the link. Moving that to the bottom was the step I needed. Episodes are coming out great now!

That’s exactly what those other hundreds of thousands of Plex Users say when they move LMA from it’s ASSHAT DEVELOPER’S DEFAULT LOCATION!

I’m pleased it’s working.
