iTunes Movies on Plex

Hi guys
I’m new to this… Just installed Plex a week ago but now I see, that Plex won’t play my movies bought on iTunes store. Any idea why and how i can go around that?
Thanks

Most movies “bought” by various outlets online today includes a sort of DRM that causes it to be more of a rental on their term, thus causing them non-playable in applications such as Plex. Bypassing this protection isn’t allowed to talk about on the forum and isn’t anything Plex wants to or will ever have a solution for.

…and yet there is a means to listen to iTunes music. There is a work around if you want to break the encryption but I’m probably not allowed to talk about it.

Thanks guys - found what I was looking for in an other “older” discussion. Still got to say “WTF” as bought is bought from my point of view and what I do with it / on what source I’ll play it is my choice.

And furthermore the PLEX announcement “you can play all your movies/Music” where ever you want… isn’t true at all if I can’t play DRM protected stuff…

That’s because DRM protected stuff isn’t yours. It’s licensed to you to watch inside a walled garden. If you want bought = bought, you’ll need a digital source that doesn’t place conditions on your access. Apple, Google, Amazon, nope. This is why we need multiple streaming apps on our phones and tablets, and why some of us use dedicated devices on our TVs to get both Plex and apps that unlock protected content.

The walls are always the highest around content licensed from Apple. Roku, Android, and iP* have Amazon and Google apps. But it’s a forum violation to talk about Apple content on non-Apple hardware.

I can’t stress how correct this is. You do not “own” these things. If the app store you purchased from folds or simply decides it’s not able to offer it anymore you will lose access to it.
