I know you savvy Plex masters will all groan when I ask this question, but I really don’t understand why I can’t use Plex to play my DRM videos. If I have iTunes logged in and enabled on the same machine, it seems link it should be able to access the material just like it does for music.
A recent purchase of Bond won’t allow me to use Tuneskit and an old version iTunes for Win anymore to convert it. Without physical media ripping, what options are available to legal purchase and store movies for streaming?
A TV is just a screen so I’m not sure why I can’t serve this through the Plex app on my TV and not have to have separate Apps and libraries not to mention servers.
Thanks, yes I know. But I’m not really asking to remove the DRM, just work with it. For instance, could a clear channel/pipe/etc be established through the Plex server front end to the iTunes/TV backend? My computer is logged into my iTunes account and I legitimately bought the license. It’s just the front-end that is doing the serving.
Without the physical media, how do I purchase DRM free movies?
You don’t. I know of no legitimate source for digital movies without DRM.
This would only be possible, if the owner of this channel (Apple in this case) is willing to work with Plex.
Which they (most likely) don’t, because they have zero interest in moving their users outside of their user interface (where they can sell additional product).
On top of that, each movie store/streaming service have contracts themselves with the actual owners of the media copyrights. These contracts can forbid them from doing certain things, among which can also be what you are describing above.
The content industry is very strictin their contracts, because they fear open platforms.
