I've stopped seeing the server in the apps

It’s my first time on this forum, so apologies if I’m doing something incorrectly.

For years I’ve had Plex Media Server installed on my NVIDIA Shield (with the NVIDIA Shield connected via USB to an external hard drive). I watch the content using the native app on my LG TV. To edit the library metadata, I use a Windows computer via https://app.plex.tv/desktop. A few days ago, I downloaded the Android app on my smartphone, and in order to log in I reset my password because I couldn’t remember it. Since then, the server has disappeared from the LG app, the Android app, and https://app.plex.tv/desktop. I can log in to my account correctly (I’ve tried changing the profile avatar and it syncs across all devices), but the server does not appear. However, I can still see the server and its content from the NVIDIA Shield app itself. All devices are using the same Wi-Fi network.

Perhaps the login issue was just a coincidence… but I don’t know what else could have happened, since I didn’t change any settings or perform any updates. Can you help me?

Resetting your Plex account password unclaims your server (removes it from your account).

You need to re-claim the server.

From a system on the same network as the Shield, point a private/incognito browser window at the IP address of the Shield.

For example, if the address is 10.1.2.3, use http://10.1.2.3:32400/web.

You should be able to login, click the wrench icon (settings), navigate to the server settings and claim the server (settings → server_name → general).


The IP address of the Shield is displayed the Shield’s network settings.

You can also launch the Plex client app on the Shield and look in the lower right corner of the screen (you may need to enable network logging in the Advanced section).

When I went to the Shield app to start the steps… “magically,” before I even began, a pop-up appeared suggesting I claim the server on the account. I accepted… and it’s still active! hehe.
