Server Version#: v1.42.1.10060
Player Version#: v10.30.4.4092
Ive seen a post or two but not a recent one tied to this specific password change and the nvidia shield server
I reset my password and signed out of connected devices, as instructed by the email we all got. Now my server attached to the nvidia shield is unavailable.
I do not have the option to “claim” the server as I have seen on other posts. I only see the server name and the orange warning triangle and the message that it is currently unavailable. Nothing happens when I select Retry, it spins and fails instantly.
I have tried going into settings and selecting the plex media server icon that says it is Stopped to try and turn it on. It spins for a moment and then nothing happens.
From here I am lost on what to do. I have cleared the cache and data and restarted the shield several times and still no luck. I have seen some pretty complicated things in other threads from years ago but cannot even find some of the info or where to type it in.
Hopefully this issue will get fixed quickly or a simple solution will be posted soon. Thanks to anyone who can help.
I’m having the same problem after changing my password. The first thing I discovered was when I tried running Plex on my various devices, it said “SHIELD Android TV is currently unavailable. Verify you have a network connection and that the server is online, or see our tips for further assistance.”
I realized that I probably needed to sign in again on the Shield, which is where I’m running PMS. When I did this, I was instructed to go to https://plex.tv/link and enter the 4 digit code. After doing this, I could no longer access the server. I’ve also tried toggling the Server status from OFF to ON, but it still shows it is stopped.
I exited Plex, went to the Shield’s settings and apps, found Plex and forced it to stop. Then I scrolled down to internal apps and found Plex Media Server and also forced it to stop. Then I rebooted my Shield and reran Plex. Still no luck. I still can’t change the PMS status from stopped. I also tried going back to the Shield’s setting and scrolled down to the internal apps and Plex Media Server, but this time I tried clearing the cache. I rebooted again. Still no luck. BUT now, I’ve discovered that the PMS app data has gone from 13.1 GB to 84 MB. I’m positive that I didn’t clear the data, only the cache. So I’m freaking out about the loss of the data.
I accessed the Shield folders from my laptop, which is on the same network, by typing \\SHIELD and entering my passcode. I can see that the database is still there-
I accessed the server using http://[SHIELD IP]:32400/web and was able to get it to work.
The screens are a bit different than I normally see when running Plex from https://app.plex.tv/, so I was a little concerned that I’d mess things up even more. Happily, that wasn’t the case.
BTW, weekly, I back up my Plex database files, so I figured if I really messed things up I could recover from a backup. It’s too bad there isn’t a user friendly utility within Plex that helps you make and restore backups of the database.
Im not quite sure what you mean, or how to find my shields IP. I’ve tried to use the app on the shield itself, my phone, and the web page on my laptop. None have been able to access the files plugged into the shield. Perhaps you can give done more details?
Using your remote, scroll down to Network & Internet and select it.
A few lines down, you should see Connected—the IP address will be listed just below that.
As for more detailed guidance, I was hoping tom80H (aka the Plex Ninja) might weigh in. There are also several threads on the Plex forum discussing this issue. The solution I used has been mentioned multiple times, and one post even included screenshots. However, those screenshots didn’t match what I saw on my screen, so I wasn’t confident in following those exact steps.
Instead, I improvised based on what I saw and managed to get it working. Unfortunately, I’m not sure how to retrace my steps to explain them clearly. I wish I could provide a more precise walkthrough.
Thank you so much, I had just been looking for the IP address inside of the plex app. Duh.
After visiting http://[SHIELD IP]:32400/web as you instructed it was just a few clicks to get to the screen allowing me to claim the server and everything worked fine. Thank you for your help, I hope this helps other people with the issue too.
