I just got the main app automatically updated. Here are some bugs which I simply noticed immediately. I’ll try to be brief.
The live tv just gives a black screen in the preview. If I “maximize” the preview, it works afterwards.
The sound is not muted in the preview - the toggle is not working until toggled on/off.
If the live tv preview is successfully muted, audio can come back on if the bottom tabs are switched and simply keeps playing in the background. I had to close the app for the sound to stop.
The live tv guide can’t be forwarded by swiping.
The logos are not showing up. Metadata is refreshed. It worked when I tried the very first beta, but not now.
It’s very slow to load things and react. I have a decently powerful phone.
Taps sometimes doesn’t register.
Honestly the design isn’t even very good. It looks sort of dated. And even besides the lag, it doesn’t really feel very fresh or good to use.
The app generally feels confused. Like it lacks focus. Some really legacy things remain (like folder browsing) while some are removed. Some modern things are tried, and yet there is a distinct feeling of “same old” everywhere. I thought this would feel more fresh honestly
some things also shows a nice thought behind it, but is executed poorly (like the live tv preview).
The old Plex app was a jack of all trades by design but it still managed to somehow feel polished and focused. The new one doesn’t even manage to feel exciting. Of course it’s not easy to hear it for the designers but I don’t think this is it guys.
