Just subscribed but can't get trailers or extras to play on any device

I subscribed to Plex Pass mainly to be able to view trailers for my movies but so far have been unable to get any of them (or movie extras) working on any of my devices.

They show up but whenever I try to play them I either get a “not powerful enough to transcode” error or the loading icon just cycles, depending on the device. I’ve got Direct Play and Direct Stream enabled as I know my NAS isn’t powerful enough to transcode, however most movies play just fine on my Firestick, Acer laptop, iPad and Galaxy S7.

So far, however, none of them can seem to play trailers or extras. I understand that my device can’t transcode but does this mean that whatever format the source files for the trailers/extras are in, none of my devices are capable of playing them without some sort of conversion?

Solved it myself and thought it might be useful to post the solution as, whilst I was waiting, I saw many others with the same issue. This might not fix it for you but they issue for me was not having the time set correctly on my media server.

So just to be clear this wasn’t a setting within Plex itself or any of its clients, but on my media server itself, in this case a Seagate Personal Cloud. in the server configuration there was a setting for enabling “NTP time” which seems to basically figure our your time and timezone for you and keep it synchronised. Amazingly, once this was done and the library refreshed, all trailers and all extras worked just fine!
