I keep getting random files showing up in my library. They appear to always be transcode-based files, typically full media files, showing up, with random names. The one in this case was “F6”: /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Cache/Transcode/Sync+/40709003/f6/17318.mp4
Server Version#: 1.18.5.2309
Player Version#: (I think this only shows up on plex web)
note that /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library… is not tied to a library. Those are all NFS-based mounts in /mnt/…
Edit: Found part of issue. Apparently gave someone permission to make changes to plex without realizing it and somehow the var/lib was added as library directory on ubuntu server to my movies collection.
Original;
Did you ever find a solution for this? I’ve had over 1500 files (not figurative) that it’s added as movies in my library and I have to keep going into plex and deleting them every couple days… it’s gotten so bad that it even will add bits and clips of cached videos as you’re watching. For example it’ll add media file 004 through 1541 and it’ll all be either blank or show as part of spongebob movies my kids were watching. Hope you can help me as well with my sanity here.
Yes. Just modify the library, and rescan it. For some reason, one of the libraries had been linked to my transcoder folder. Removing that solved my problem.
