Keep having to restart Plex Server for Windows 10

Server Version#: 1.25.2.5319
Player Version#: Various

Hello I am running Plex Server on Windows 10 Pro 20H2. I keep having to restart the server every 2-3 days because my remote users get the “Plex Server Not Available” message. It happens to multiple users, in different geographies. Today when it happened, I logged in and noticed that the Plex Media Server wasn’t running down in the system tray. I downloaded and attached logs. Please let me know if you have any suggestions! I’ve done 2 different malware scans, and did a sfc.com /scannow to try and resolve system issues. Not sure where to go from here, TIA!

Most likely it is your router closing the automatically established port forwarding.
Switch to a manually forwarded port.

This would cause the Plex Server app to crash in Windows? The icon disappears from the tray.

Normally, the server doesn’t run at all when you are logged out of your Windows user account.
So how are you starting the server and how are you leaving the server?
Are you starting Plex in a Remote Desktop environment?

Oh, also, I do have a manually forwarded port. The server has been running fine for quite some time. Just started acting up in the past 2 months. No changes to router or ISP in that time.

I’m managing Plex in a RDP session. I set my Win10 box to start auto-rebooting every night at 4am, and its still crashing, so I wouldn’t think RDP would affect it.

The server starts when windows starts. This is a machine that is solely used for Plex, and it just runs unattended. It only gets rebooted for updates, etc. Otherwise it stays running 24/7. It does have a physical monitor, KB/MS hooked up to it, but I access it primarily through RDP.

I disabled hardware transcoding and it has stopped crashing. I noticed PlexTranscoder.exe was constantly crashing in Windows Event Viewer, so I thought I would try that. I am running an Intel 11th Gen Core i7 w onboard video, using QuickSync. Any ideas?

I’ve not much experience with debugging hardware transcoding.
But I’d start with installing different driver versions for whatever does the hardware transcoding on your system.
i.e. either nVidia or Intel driver software
Try also going back one or two version numbers.
