Ok, that’s exactly what I had. So far haven’t needed to change anything.
So clicking retry, I get the successful message in green, then within 2 minutes I get the red: Not Available Outside Your Network.

Restart PMS, wait 3 minutes, Grab the logs and attach here.
If it’s Green then back to Red , it means Plex.tv cannot verify the port is still open.
Plex Media Server Logs_2026-02-23_21-13-42.zip (6.9 MB)
Logs attached. Currently, we are GREEN but it’s only been up a short while.
By the way, I was having problems with my WD NAS falling over, but that now appears to have been stabilised.
Also on Saturday and Sunday, when I had rebooted the router, the Synology PMS did stay on line for at least 6 hours.
Stupid question –
You’re using different ports for each ?
e.g.
Syno - 35000
WD - 35001
?
Yes, using different.
WD is port 36000
Good
When I see your logs after rebooting, i’ll see which IP address Plex.tv is using.
( Plex.tv performs remote-access tests from multiple servers )
Depending on where it’s coming from, the next option to consider is if one of the server is being Geo-IP blocked while others are not.
Does your service (BT) account have any Geo-IP blocking (region blocking) enabled ?
I’m not aware of it.
Your account is being serviced by Plex’s server
London, England, United Kingdom (GB), Europe
That shouldn’t be a problem (unless London has grown hostile these days – haha)
I am seeing IPv6 on one side of your account and only IPv4 on the Syno.
Did BT switch to IPv6-only ?
Here’s an interesting thing. Synology PMS has been running OK since I rebooted. I was viewing it through a Windows Web page.
I kept that page open, but then went and double checked on Chrome on my Samsung tablet. At that point, it went from Green to Red.
Closed the tablet page, retried on Windows, appears to stay on Green.
Repeated on a tablet. Same result, goes down when I open a second iteration of the same page.
Is it as simple as I shouldn’t try and multitask?
I’ve seen this behavior. I am not a web/app guy so don’t know why it happens.
Sometimes the timeouts (inactivity) make for false reporting and phantom problems..
With it green, start streaming something (anything) which will run for a while.
Make sure it completes normally.
I’m not aware of BT switching to IPv6 only but, in all honesty, it’s not something that would grab my attention!!!
I did some checking.
Your LAN is IPv4 (as shown in your logs)
Your service is reporting to Plex as IPv6.
Probably ok since BT is “dual stack” (like my ISP)
I’d continue the stress / timeout test is ensure it plays normally.
The only other thing it can be is a wonky app
I can play music from Plex to an external speaker (Sonos) when it’s green but I had tried that on Saturday and Sunday, when it stayed up after a routerb reboot for 6 or so hours and it played constantly.
And I’ve just played a few tracks from Plex to Sonos.
But my real use is to play directly from Sonos using the Plex service and that isn’t working at the moment- that does require the remote service and that doesn’t work at the moment.
I have no idea about Sonos. I’ve seen others with problems as well.
I’m sorry that I can’t helpp more with it.
Did you find anything in the Sonos forums?
I’ve looked through Sonos and spoken to their support. They say it’s a Plex problem!!! But normally, if remote access works in Plex, then Sonos plays ok- well, that’s how it was working at the weekend.
I’ll ask if anyone can help.
This isn’t making sense to me at all.
Thank you, your help is much appreciated.
I keep trying to think if there’s anything Ive done. I have started using a new music player for Android called Symfonium, which integrates with OneDrive, Google Drive, Plex, etc. But I can’t see how that would impact on anything.
Other than that I’m still confused!!!
I’ve called the Calvary. If there’s anything I missed, they will find it
Q: Does PMS work normally if you shut down the other software temporarily ?
Plex Media Server v1.41.5.9626
You might try updating to the current release, 1.43.0.10492. 1.41.5 was released in Feb 2025.
I can see remote access failing in the Synology log files, but cannot tell why it is failing.
I compared to my DS918+ and the look the same, except at the end mine changes to MyPlex: mapping state set to 'Mapped' and @Keith-Andrews changes to MyPlex: mapping state set to 'Not Mapped'.
My DS918+ is also on DSM 7.3.2. Only difference I see is I’m running 1.43.0.10492.
FYI if you do update, give Plex some extra time to start. It will take a couple minutes longer due to the database migrations (normal when updating PMS).
It’s difficult to say, as I tend to use them in different scenarios. Symfonium in the car, as it is playing music from OneDrive (I’ve now removed the Plex link) and use Sonos/Plex at hom, as it’s easier to group speakers and choose playlists/Music to play.
I’m only now likely to be in the Web version of PMS for adding media and maintaining, tagging.
