I am trying to using Plex on XBOX one via a Synology NAS
Synology is a DS216+II (Intel Celeron 1.6 Ghz, 2 processors, 1Mo RAM, supposed to be able to transcode 4K film …)
My film is in 1080P, everything wired via Ethernet cable, work in local network
Version:
Plex server on Synology is 1.3.4.3285
Plex player on Xbox is 1.8
Issue : with Plex the film is stopping on a regular basis (when buffering?)
it seems that the Plex server is transcoding as CPU of my Synology is 99% full
I don’t understand why it transcodes as with Xbox media player I have no lag at all (but no subtitle) and a direct play.
Without us knowing what you’re playing that is causing a transcode there isn’t much we can try and diagnose.
In your Plex Media Server.log the Xbox One app should be saying why it has requested a transcode. This support article explains how to get that log so we can try and advise you more.
Plex on xbox one is useless If you need subtitles. If you have hard-coded subs it works…srt works fine from iPad.appltv and such. I even tried to use my qnap. To transcode with subs and play to TV via hdmi. Worked fine. Then again xbox one is perhaps the slowest player you can use.
@Chickencasual yep, Plex on XO is really slow and useless if you need subtitles… but I heard that the UWP version of Plex is supporting subtitles and is much faster.
Still don’t know why it’s taking so much time to migrate a win10 app on XO.
