I stream MKV files between 1500 and 2000 bitrate remote to the plex online browser player and I noticed that the video playing is lagging. My provider assures an upload bandwith between 7 and 15 Mbps. Is there any way to reduce lagging in this situation? Thank you.
Media optimize the file so it doesn’t transcode due to the imposed limitations in bitrate (if the media has a higher bitrate than requested by client). And speaking of clients, any chance you might be able to install the Windows app or PMP instead of using the web browser?
is there any portable version of PMP available?
Not that I’m aware of, there’s an embedded version that I know you can put on a USB-stick. Not sure if that will help you though. If changing from the web player isn’t an option I’d make sure that the streaming settings for the web players are correct. Perhaps try a different browser and/or enable/disable the HTML5 player. And make sure that the browser is direct playing (with media optimizer function as previosly noted).
