Hello, I am trying to get 4k blueray quality movies to run smoothly in my computer thru the web player.
I am using an I7 4gen cpu, 32 gb RAM and AMD RX 560 GPU.
I have uploaded the logs.

Thank you for your help,

Eyal

aint gonna happen. web browser are crappy media players, and cannot direct play your 4k/hdr remuxes.

HEVC, the codec that 4k/hdr uses, takes a ton of cpu to decode.

if you look in the plex media server.log for ‘mde:’ you will find the lines that tell you that your movie cannot be direct played.

you may want to read the whole thread @ Plex, 4k, transcoding, and you

4k content isn’t just as simple as download and play.

Use Plex for Windows/Mac or Plex Media Player. Available at plex.tv/download.

Hi thanks for helping.
The point of using the web player is to simulate playing the movie on my samsung tv. It has plex app and the movies are responding the same in the tv as in the web player on my computer.

Bad idea. It is like simulating apples with oranges. They are completely different.

Why not just use your Samsung TV?

What model? EDIT: Seems to be a 2019 Q70.
From logs: [Now] Device is Tizen (TV QE65Q70TATXSQ).

If you’re using the Orca app then you’re better off ditching it and going with an Apple TV 4K/ Fire TV 4K/ Roku / Shield Pro. The Orca app is from a 3rd party (a Plex user), has been unsupported for a couple of years, and has issues working with current versions of Plex Media Server. At some point it will completely break.

For smooth playback you have to be aware of the limitations of your device. Only use video & audio codecs and subtitle formats that direct play.

Start with Dolby Digital (AC3) audio and no subtitles.

Monitor playback using Plex DashboardNow Playing. It will show if the server is direct playing / direct streaming / transcoding the video or audio.

With the current Tizen app:

  • Enabling image based subtitles, PGS & VOBSUB, forces a video transcode.
  • If the audio is transcoding, enabling text subtitles, SRT, forces a video transcode.

dts, dts-HD MA, and TrueHD audio will transcode, as they are not supported by Samsung.

So, to ensure the best possible playback when playing 4K HDR media

  • Never use PGS or VOBSUB subtitles.
  • If using text subtitles, do not use dts, dts-HD, or TrueHD audio (or any audio that transcodes).

I do not know if anything is different when using the Tizen Preview app.

Ok, I will experiment base on those guidelines.
