A collection of 2000 items will take about 8 seconds to display on an IOS device. A collection of 3000 items or more will cause the IOS app to crash. This is true for smart collections based on genres (ex. genre=drama) or manual collections (contains all drama genre media).
Side note: I don’t get why collections load / display different than just filtering. With filtering, I can display thousands of items no problem. I get the alphabet side bar. The loading seems to be smarter (loading the section you can see and then loading the ones you can’t). Seems like if collections were designed using the same framework, this issue would not occur and the user experience would be more consistent, reliable, and performant.
