Latest Android App update unstable, hangs, crashes with LiveTV

Unfortunately I had auto updates enabled and my working Android setup is now FUBAR. Android Client connecting to Plex Server on MacOS over same network.

Issues:

  • Trying to load LiveTV Guide now hangs Plex Client for 5 minutes before guide appears, unresponsive to clicks.
  • LiveTV playback will randomly stop, have to press the Play button to resume playback
  • LiveTV playback randomly crashes the Plex Client, occasionally pop up messages appear are unresponsive to clicks, app has to be killed and re-launched

The Plex Client is streaming over the LAN - why do error messages appear saying connection problems over the internet?

Are you now forcing IPV6 in the Plex Client? IPV6 is unavailable on my LAN

I had the same thing with Android 12, but it was fine on my wife’s Android 15 phone.
I’ve downgraded the Plex app on my phone to get it working again.

Where did you find a legit copy of the older software? Not on google play store…

I just used the APK mirror site.

For WAN connections. Go to Avatar / Downloads / Settings and Disable WiFi only

I downgraded using APKmirror and like magic Plex works again. No more surprise POS auto-updates breaking things for me thanks.
