Server Version#:Plex-Media-Server-1.13.8.5395-10d48da0d
Player Version#:
After having all kinds of problems connecting or playing anything from anywhere, I finally restored a version from a couple weeks ago. The second the old version was back everything worked again.
I’m still experiencing connection issues with the plex updates, and this is since the July 28 update (1.13.5.5291) . I’m unable to find my server while on the same network, I am now see it when i’m on the server that hosts PMS so this time was “better” that previous updates. The Plex media player app on my media PC sits there spinning saying no server for about 5 min… then sometimes it refreshes and its there. Went back to Version 1.13.4.5271 and all is right as rain… Really hope they can figure this out… but I just keep doing updates in hopes they fix it and when its still not right I go back to the one that works.
No changes of any kind. This is installed on an actual server HP DL580 rack mounted server that sits in a server room at my office. Everything is default when I set it up. Actually has been fine for more than a year. Only thing that changed was that update.
What I really noticed was weird was if I tried to open the plex server from the icon in the system tray it would open a chrome tab and say 127.0.0.1 refused the connection.
I tried to fix it by doing a repair install with the latest version of Plex that I downloaded, with no change happening. That’s when I restored a version from a couple weeks ago, and suddenly everything worked.
Yes it’s a static IP address, and I have always had port 32400 forwarded in the router. But I’m not sure how that would affect opening plex from the server it’s installed on. Maybe if I was trying to see plex from a networked computer, but that’s not the case here. This is from the actual Plex Server. Plus if that was the issue, why would it instantly work with the old version?
What I meant was: did you pick a certain network adapter in the settings of Plex?
(Settings - Server - Network - (Show Advanced) ?
If this is running on a “server” device, is it also using a server OS?
Are there any tighter security settings activated?
Is there any 3rd party security-related software installed?
It’s is running server os Microsoft Server 2008 R2. It has dual gigabit that are teamed for failover, but I haven’t assigned the adapter specifically, but it is the only one available.
