I downloaded the latest QPKG update today (Nov 27, 2107) and tried to install manually from the QNAP App Center as I always do. It freezes at 45% and will not proceed, even if wait for more than 30 minutes. It definitely hosed my PLEX installation. Worse, it removed PLEX from my server and the App Center icon is now gone.
I tried re-downloading the QPKG from the PLEX website but the same thing happens (freeze at 45%). So I’m dead in the water with this version.
Is this happening to anyone else? Could there be an error in the QPKG file PLEX posted for download?
This is what I see in the QNAP AppCenter when I try and manually install the latest version of PLEX Server. It never proceeds beyond this point. I think the skull and crossbones is not good.
TS-469Pro running QTS ver 4.3.3.0378 (which is the latest, I think). I also noticed that after attempting to upgrade my PLEX server my QNAP failed to shut down properly and hung in the “shutting down” state. Also note that after the first installation failure I did reboot my QNAP server and attempted to install PLEX again, and it failed again (hanging at 45% as before). My QNAP continues to run fine with no other problems other than the PLEX issue I’m having.
If QTS is not shutting down and restarting correctly, I think it best you focus there first.
Did you just upgrade to the newest firmware ? I had to back down to 4.3.3.0361
A simple reinstall of your existing firmware will address the largest parts of it. (It will verify the file systems are intact).
I had an user in the spanish forum with a similar problem some months ago, also with a QNAP. If you enabled remote connections using myqnapcloud or Dynamic DNS you should have the admin userid protected with strong passwords, and change it frequently. Your system could have been hacked.
For remote connections the recommended methods are Plex (although it only provides access to PMS) and QNAP’s VPN Server app (using OpenVPN). Or both (I use both).
Edit: Search QNAP forum, at least one user opened a ticket with QNAP and received this answer
Thanks. I waited a couple of days and tried re-installing PLEX server from the PLEX website and it worked. Never did figure out what the problem was, though.
Bit of a dead horse but I recently had the same issue with Version 1.12.1.4885 on a qnap TS453A on firmware 4.3.4.0486
I have never had a problem before.
Was stuck at 45% waited… waited… checked the logs - saw that it had successfully shutdown Plex service done it’s thing and restarted the service.
So I tried plex on my browser and it connected and worked fine. QNAP still showed stuck at 45%
Logged out then logged back into the Qnap and all was good again.
Coincidentally there was a firmware update notification when I logged back in.
Anyway just an update to an old post for the next person doing a google search for the same issue.
