yes happened to me as well… with the movie db’s
Sorry for the delay.
Ubuntu went STUPID… freaking PoS %&%^&%^&&^%%^#W
It would not let me screen capture the options I have.
For those who were around in earlier times — the first cut of those scanners were brutally slow.
Like anything which is a full rewrite, I fully expect them to hone this to a sharp edge.
When i was first looking at the movie scanner development, it was blazing fast … HOWEVER. it was also only about 50% accurate
It takes longer now but it doesn’t miss either.
I’ve been around since mid-2013, but I have always used NFO files. That makes movie matching a non-issue. It’s 100% every time. Another reason I have not switched to the new scanner. If I were to do a complete rebuild/relocate my server, I would then use the new scanner, sure.
In the thread for the new TV scanner, I asked if NFO files could also be used with shows now. Zoidberg actually said this would be implemented, so that’s awesome.
Regardless, I need to stick with legacy for a while, so please make that an option
Thanks for everything!
I’ve been around just about as long I think (?). 2012/2013 timeframe.
I got onto FileBot and haven’t looked back. IMHO, for this type curation, it’s a required tool in the toolbox.
EDIT: Plex Pass on 06 Oct 2013
95K, that’s it??!!??
I need you testing with at least 350K episodes
Hey! How are you?!?!?!
Send me a file listing ( find . -print ) style
Doing good Chuck
Same thing every night, trying to take over the world
I’ll see if I can create a list for you
You want to see my server ?
I’ll invite you.
@ChuckPa I can confirm this also. After upgrading to plexmediaserver-1.21.2.3939-3945797bd.x86_64.rpm the Scan Library Files from under server -> manage -> libraries is taking between 3x-4x longer to complete. I add content at various times a day so am use to seeing the scanner work thought my files and after this upgrade its much much slower.
Logs attached below and if you want a copy of my DB just let me know and I can DM it to you. Anything else you require let me know.
Plex Media Server Logs_2021-01-27_08-36-29.zip (3.9 MB)
I’ll also add that one core goes into very high demand to the extent that the fans spin up to keep it cool. Screenshot below of the thread that is using the core during this time …
@ChuckPa reverted back to plexmediaserver-1.21.2.3918-e47113e83.x86_64.rpm and no problems. Some quick timings using the same test with just the PMS build changed:
- plexmediaserver-1.21.2.3918-e47113e83.x86_64.rpm -> 8 seconds to scan my entire library (Movies & Shows) for new content.
- plexmediaserver-1.21.2.3939-3945797bd.x86_64.rpm -> 2+ minutes to scan my entire library (Movies & Shows) for new content.
plexmediaserver-1.21.2.3939-3945797bd.x86_64.rpm is certainly bad.
Version 1.21.2.3939 on Ubuntu 20.04 on a Samsung 970 Pro nvme.
Takes 8 minutes to finish scanning even though no new media has been added.
I updated yesterday to Version 1.21.2.3939 on my Synology DS1019+ and the scanner just keep scanning the entire library over and over, without stopping.
It has been going on the entire night, and also right now still keeps scanning the same stuff over and over.
Once finished, after like 10/15mins it start scanning again everything.
We are looking into this, hold tight
Something else happened by me. All my multi-part concerts (separate library - agent & scanner: Plex Movie) got split (was merged before). The second file (ex. “disc 2”) got unmatched. But I guess, since it is a complete rescan - that might have been the reason? Everything else was okay
@anon5074910 could you DM me that DB of yours? And if you have a backup of before the update that would be idea tool. I’ve been unable to repro this on my side but an affected database may have some clues.
Having the same issues my movies scan used to take under a minute and is now about 30 minutes. I gave up timing how long the TV scan was taking but it was probably around 45 to an hour.
This is for about 5,000 movies and 50,000 episodes.
Keeping this thread updated – DBs have been sent to @drzoidberg33 as requested
in the meantime, is there a way i could stop the scanning?
since it has been doing this now for almost 24h non stop and i’d like to give it a rest…
also perhaps downgrade to the previous version, but if only i knew where to get it now?
I’m having the same problem with very long scan times on a Synology after installing 1.21.2.3939-3945797bd
When trying to do a Manual Install of the previous version 1.21.2.3918-e47113e83 SPK I get the following message that it cannot roll back to the older version:
Current package version is 1.21.2.3939-3945797bd
You cannot roll back to the older version 1.21.2.3918-e47113e83
Is there a way to force the roll back or better to just wait for a fix in the next version release?
