You have to uninstall the current version and then install the old version.
I see, thanks. I haven’t uninstalled and reinstalled before. Is the database preserved when doing so on a Synology? If so, that seems pretty straightforward to just uninstall and reinstall the older version.
yes, that’s how i also update my Synology. Uninstall the current and manually install another version. The DB will stay ok.
The problem (at least for me), is having the file of the previous version, which i do not have anymore, so i don’t know how to rollback now.
I was able to download the older version by copying the URL address from the current version for my device found at https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads
I first got the URL address for the current version 1.21.2.3939-3945797bd and then just replaced version number portion of the URL with 1.21.2.3918-e47113e83
Pasting that modified URL in the browser downloaded the older version
oh i see! it worked now, Thank you!
i’m going to roll back for now until this is sorted out.
If I may make a recommendation?
It is urged that everyone keep at least one (fairly recent) backup package file.
In the grand scheme of things, we’re talking about 150 MB of space maximum as compared to TV episode files which are usually at least 350 MB. (My episode files are 2-3 GB each)
100% – I keep the last three builds of PMS (just in case)
i usually do it, but… not this time for some apparent reason i didn’t kept the previous one
I use auto scanner and running Version 1.21.2.3939. I can say I haven’t noticed any issues. My movies is still on the old agent though. Scans still kick off for every new file to import and then stops when its done. Is the issue tied to a full scan only?
@bakes82 mmmm, could be a factor – I have auto scan disabled as I like to control myself when stuff is added to my server – I noticed the major performance issues when full scan kicked in.
I’m not fully briefed on the reach of this issue.
I am trying to follow along with the discussions I see.
I know they’re testing things now and
we will see something really soon.
Uninstalled 1.21.2.3939-3945797bd
Reinstalled 1.21.2.3918-e47113e83
All is okay now. Scan completed in 9 seconds with 1.21.2.3918-e47113e83 back in place
Thanks for the information
If you could tell me how to get plex to ignore certain files from being scanned over and over because it cant find meta that would be great
Because very auto scan request scans the few items that it can find meta for and I havent moved out of the library yet.
@bakes82 Might be a good idea, to open a new thread for this. You can use the plex ignore. More info here.
please create a fresh thread? Use of .plexignore is kinda off -topic
Since most of you are referring to issues pertaining to TV Shows or Movies, I thought I would chime in and report that my music library is getting the full slow creep scan as well. Since I use Plex during the day as my music streamer, the impact has not been noticeable since Plexamp queues multiple files.
I did run an analyze function on a DVR’ed TV show (CHiPs) to hopefully flag the commercials since they have been recorded, and that function took maybe 5 minutes for 60+ episodes.
As stated previously in this thread. On the first initial rescan - multi-part movies are automatically split.
I just noticed a new problem with this release. When you merge files - they aren’t merged like previously. They are added to the same movie as two separate versions. Even though, each file is named correctly disc1 and disc2. Which worked perfectly in the previous version.

Can confirm now, scanning takes for ever here to.
sit tight please.
The update is being built now.
It looks like it’s almost done.
Then they’ll test
and release if all is still good.
TheTVDB fix got pulled into this too.
sitting tight
Thanks for the update.
