I agree, it’s unfortunate when issues occur while upgrading versions. And when I said “generally discouraged” I should have said “explicitly forbidden by the forum guidelines.”
However, there may be a way for you to recover. See @OttoKerner 's post here:
If you’re comfortable with SQL, it shows how you can remove all traces of your previous DVR configuration so that you can re-add your tuner(s). Sometimes stale information is left in the database when tuners are removed, so they can’t be re-added.
