Live TV DVR missing, the device is in in use with existing DVR

Server Version#: 1.21.3.4021
Player Version#:
Tuner Make/Model: hd homerun prime
Guide/Lineup name:
Using XMLTV?:
Channel number/Name:

Not sure what’s going on? This was a clean install of windows10 and transfered all my setting over correctly and then a few days later the DVR is gone. When I go to add a new dvr first thing is it won’t automatically find the HD Homerun so I manually input the ip and go through the setup process. I get to the end after channel selection and I get the error “the device is in use with existing DVR”. If I clear the databases and open plex I get a yellow bar on top saying there is a HD Homerun on the network but this is with new data base files.

I’m not sure what to do, seems there is some orang currupt in the data base or something. I don’t want to loose all my data with the play-states. Is there a way to fix this without deleting everything?

I just had the same problem.

I believe you are going to need to do this solution. The device is in use with an existing DVR

The windows command I just used was this: sqlite3 com.plexapp.plugins.library.db “DELETE FROM media_provider_resources”

Hope it helps!

Shoot…now I have a different error. When I go to view a channel on plex, I get this error. Can anyone assist with this? Starting research now…

Plex Windows Version 1.21.4.4079

Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna.

Logs are attached to next post in case it helps someone assist. Thank you!

Looks like I just needed to give it some time, or a reboot, or both. Now the Tuner is working without any further changes other than reboot and time. I saw in another post that after deleting the media* table that you needed to wait for some indexing to happen, so maybe that was the cause.

Having same issue (repeatedly) as @Ksullivan86 (above).

Had issue a month ago, performed “Restoring a Backup” as found in:
Restore a Database Backed Up via ‘Scheduled Tasks’ | Plex Support

…and it fixed the problem.

…for about 3 weeks…then it came back again.

I’m willing to work with you; restoring a database when an update accidently messes something up; but to then have it occur again is getting ridiculous.

Let me know if you need logs, screen prints or anything that would help.

*** Update: Went into Databases subdirectory as described in the above link, backed up the directory, and the deleted all files that begin with tv.plex.providers.epg*

That appears to have deleted my DVR within Plex, but kept my DVR Schedule. I then easily re-added the DVR, and now it works (again). We’ll see how long that lasts…
