Launching Server from W10 system tray results in "401 Unauthorised"

Server Version#: 1.29.1.6316
Player Version#: N/A
Windows 10

For some reason I can not launch the server admin interface from the icon located in the System Tray of Windows 10 on the server itself (as of last night).

Any attempt to do this results in a 401 Unauthorized error for 127.0.0.1:32400/myplex/launch?X-Plex-Token=local

However: If I open a browser and simply navigate to the server 127.0.0.1:32400/web it opens and functions perfectly. It also works from another device if I navigate to Plex’s Internal IP on my network - 10.10.10.100:32400/web

The server is running, and remote access is working, I can stream shows internally and externally. It works perfectly. I just can’t double click on the icon in the system tray to launch the server interface.

I was thinking that perhaps it was a token issue but wondered if anyone has had a similar issue or if this is a known issue with this version of the server?

I am happy to provide some logs if required. This is the first real issue I’ve had since buying the software back in 2014 (which i think is pretty incredible).

Many thanks for any help provided!

Make sure PMS Logs are set to only do debug logging

Then restart PMS, and reproduce

Then upload a zip with the logs

Hi Dane,

Many thanks for the reply.

Last night I found the server would drop out and so I downloaded the installation file for the current version:

======================================

Windows:

Quit/exit your Plex Media Server, so it’s not actively running
Open the appropriate Registry area (as noted above) to edit
Highlight the following entries and delete them:
    PlexOnlineHome
    PlexOnlineMail
    PlexOnlineToken
    PlexOnlineUsername

======================================

Deleting those elements from the Registry seemed to truly force a reset and perhaps the download of a new token?

Its all working again, hopefully I won’t need to bother you for another 8 years!

Alex
