Server Version#: 1.23.3.4707
Player Version#: 5.18.1
Hello everyone, frankly it seems very strange to me to have not find any post at all regarding this critical bug, so I decided to open one.
It’s a couple months that randomly (at least, I couldn’t find any pattern) I’m having this issue with the LG App on my 2 tvs (both with the latest WebOS installed):
- I can’t rewind or fast forward and if I try to change any settings (like subs, or audio) it starts from the beginning. Of course even if I exit the movie I can only watch it from the start, and I can’t go forward. So it’s very frustrating because if it happens, I have to re-watch from the beginning or just leave it.
Fortunately it does happen only sometimes, and normally I just switch player connecting my PC to the tv, but of course this is very annoying.
It happened to both my LG tvs and also yesterday to a friend, who has a LG tv, too (so it’s definitely a LG bug).
Can you go to Plex Media Server settings /Authorized Devices, take a screen shot. Your Plex Web seems to be a bit old. There you will find the correct device versions.
These are the versions, I think both updated (also because I have the auto-update for every app).
When the problem occur, if I open the navigation panel, if i remember correctly I can only select play/pause button and I see the other 2 buttons as “inactive”.
Please select up from the navigation control to highlight the yellow progress bar and use << or >> to fast forward or rewind
The Magic remote cursor does not work for these function at present.
You still have not forwarded the correct Server version. What you have given is Plex Web Version. To explain, in my device panel above Version:1.23.4.4712-1f0ed4aea
Sorry, you’re right. I updated the server version with the correct one in the main thread. ( Version 1.23.3.4707). It’s different than yours but actually if I try to check for updates it says that the server is up to date, so I don’t know why.
Regarding the use of << or >> I didn’t quite understand you. I don’t have them on the magic remote as you said, and they’re disabled in the plex player, as it’s the issue I’m talking about from the beginning.
Again this is not something that happens always, on the contrary it happens only SOMETIMES, and I don’t know for what reason. And I also tried to turn off the app and tv, and turn them on again and it didn’t solve the issue.
Well, then they’re what I always use to fast forward or rewind. They do not work. As I said, the 2 buttons on the panel are disabled, consequently the < > buttons on the magic remote don’t work.
When I do that, it simply doesn’t do anything. The dot moves for a second on the yellow timeline and it comes back immediately where it was before.
This is not a problem with my magic remote. It works perfectly. it’s a Plex Client bug on the LG platform. I also said that a friend had the same issue, so it can’t possibly be my remote (also the buttons on Plex are DISABLED, that indicates clearly an app issue that doesn’t have anything to do with the remote. And finally it restarts the movie if I try to change ANY settings, so again this can’t be the remote)
Nope, transcoding disabled server side.
By the way it happened on 3 different LG TV models, so I doubt that this is a TV model issue. It have to be something app related.
Maybe you’re just been lucky, or it can be that your app is different than mine (maybe every country have different store/apps?)
Also there’s still this thing that you have a newer version of Plex server, and I can’t find it even if I force the search.
Ah no, I’m sure about that. I can’t reproduce the issue now, cause as I said, it’s happening random. But I’m pretty sure that every time, I’m always on direct play.
