LG C1 TV - "Network Unavailable"

Server Version#: 1.29.0.6244
Player Version#: 5.2.1

Starting last week when I would open the Plex App on LG C1 TV I would intermittently get “Network Unavailable”. The frequency has increased to 100% of the time, I am not longer able to use the LG WebOS app to access and view media. The TV is connected via ethernet to my LAN, and other apps on the TV work, so it is not a connectivity issue.

I have attempted enabling Secured connections > Preferred on the server.
I also had previously enabled it on the LG TV app, however I am now locked out of the app because of this error message and cannot change any settings on the client TV.

Set on the server Preferred.
Set on the LG TV Plex App Allow Insecure Connections on local network only.
This is safe. Smart TV players have expired certs, though I find that strange on a C1.

should be happy plexing

Both settings have been set and the error persists. I am only able to set the setting once I have deleted and re installed the app on the TV. I then log in, set it to Allow Insecure Connections on local network only. If I power cycle the TV I am locked out and cannot get into the app.

I’m not 100% clear on what’s going on, but I’ve heard that smart tvs lose plex login when the power is cut to their plug… I would expect you have to claim the player after that.

Make sure Auto login is enabled in LG Plex settings

Turns out rebooting my modem and network switch seemed to do the trick.

@xune531 Thank goodness it wasn’t a new C1 having an expired cert.
Are you loving it now? Any reason not to buy a C1?

@nibbles In terms of the TV itself, its probably the best purchase I made in the last 5 years. Every time we watch a movie we’re blown away by the color. At first I bought a 65" Hisense but I was annoyed the halo effect it has. I returned it and spent 20-30 hours researching TVs before pulling the trigger on the C1. Only con is doesn’t do so well when there is bright ambient light or glare, since the total brightness isn’t as strong as some other TVs, but those TVs are not OLED. To avoid that just don’t install it in a sunny room, or use curtains when watching contact with a lot of darkness/blacks in the day time. This problem is not true of sports or other bright content. Definitely get the 65" or higher if you can. I went through BestBuy and got the warrantee because I was scared that this tech is still in its infancy and was afraid of burn-in, but I’ve been using it for almost a year now and I cant tell any difference from the day I bought it. I was also worried about the TV being in direct sunlight for long periods of time, I was told that can screw it up. At first I was super paranoid about closing the binds when I left home but I tested it out a few times and even after 1-2 hours in direct sunlight the screen goes not get hot or absorb noticeable heat. I probably spent 20-30 hours doing research, it was the first TV I’ve ever bought, but its unreal coming from a like 32" TLC to a 65" C1.
