LG TV app - Network Unavailable

Server Version#: 1.40.4.8679
Player Version#: 5.2.1 (31/07/2024)

Since a few weeks that the Plex app on my LG TV 43UK6200PLA does not work, giving the message “Network Unavailable”.
Every now and then the app works, but it’s very rare and as soon I exit the app it stops working when opening it again.

It works fine on other clients, including other LG TVs.
I can access the server via DLNA.
The TV has wired internet access: every other app works fine (YouTube, Spotify, Disney+, etc.)

What I’ve tried so far:

  • restart Plex Server
  • force close Plex Client on TV
  • restart TV
  • reinstall Plex Client on TV
  • power cycle the TV
  • restart router
  • factory reset the TV
  • try DNS to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8
  • conect via Wi-Fi (to router and to mobile hotspot)

Similar behavior on my LG C2. I get this behavior every now and then since a week.

Other devices and host PC can access it fine.

Restarting Plex Media server seems to fix it.

I would be trying a strong DNS for your network.

Example:
1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 add this to your Router instead of your ISP DNS

On my C2 it works fine.
On my 43UK6200PLA it doesn’t work 99.99% of times. Restarting the server does nothing. Resetting the TV does nothing. I can’t even tinker with the app settings because it doesn’t open. Only the message on the OP appears.
On a second 43UK6200PLA in a different house, it works. :exploding_head:

I had the same issue last week. Wired directly through router, change ISP DNS, Google and cloudflare DNS and none worked. What did work was connecting through WiFi on a mobile phone hotspot. Logged it and worked fine. Then disconnect WiFi and back to wired and it worked again.

Thank you for the hints.
Tried them all but unfortunately none of them worked.

The same problem happened to my LG TV, Is there a plan to develop a native local app for LG TVs running WebOS instead of the current PWA app?

It seems that it has been fixed somehow.
The last 2 times I tried to access the TV app it worked.
I’ll not set this as solved though, as I still have doubts that this is permanent…

Unfortunately it is hapenning again…
