The update really is the worst. Running LG 49SJ810
Ofcourse, some other TV’s are worse (Samsung’s 5000 series doesn’t show 9 out of 10 subtitles on my movies/tv shows, external and/or selectable straight in mkv/mp4).
Does anyone have problems with the signing in to the app? I have my TV linked to my account, but most of the time when I start the app I see the Plex logo. This lasts for up to a minute, then I must choose between resetting the app to defaults or reset the app to defaults…
Unfortunately they’re getting close to release for version 3.7 so the beta is closed.
You will probably be limited to version 3.6 for now which honestly isn’t too great. That said if you’re ok with some Kodi skins you will be fine.
You certainly will not see the awesome Ariana skin until 3.7 goes to release. It’s definitely worth the wait though.
If you guys think Plex cares about what its users want, you haven’t been paying attention for awhile now… they don’t even consider the top 10 list of requests here as a consideration. If you think they will all of a sudden get a clue on functionality and design, you’re also not paying attention, hell, looks at these awful forums now. They are in their own world and don’t care, and they can do this b/c there’s no real competition. Get used to it.
This app has become a piece of crap. The old app had the odd issues once a week at most which I could deal with.
My current issues have become so annoying, I’ve to quit the app just to get it to work.
Watching 1080p content I get a buffering message pop up every 2 mins for a brief second
Selecting latest show on my ‘On Deck’ used to go to the last aired show. Now it goes to the 1st episode of the whole season. I have to scroll the whole season in order to reach the most recent episode.
UI is very very slow
Skipping back 30 seconds causes the app to stall on ‘Buffering’
Honestly, I’ve been using plex since the very early days. Can you please concentrate on fixing these niggly things that create so much user noise rather than working on VR enhancements that the majority of your userbase do not use.
Same here, tried, reported, and polled (which is gone). Said I wouldn’t keep paying. Canceled my sub and they could care less. Look at the amounts of people complaining and the responses you get back from emails. They don’t care. If the company I worked for had these issues and this amount of people complaining with an app, we would either pull the app or roll back. Thousands of views and numerous topics flooding the forums and all we get is " "
I’ve been using the new UI for a while now and gotten used to it. Works pretty good with my LG 70". Sometimes I see a slight popup that says Buffering when streaming movies. I actually have use for the larger tiles as my kids have an easier time to point at what they want to view
Anyway on a general note for laughs today I tried out the official Plex app without much hope.
It was more to test out the Dolby Atmos capabilities of the TV. What I really didn’t expect was pretty much perfect playback of my 4K UHD remuxes. (stored locally and on Google.)
I did have issues with anything that used (forced) subs. Strangely even with external .srt subs.
The files play the webapp and Tautulli report it’s direct playing however I get a transcoder crash every time (on a file that’s direct playing???) So no idea what that’s about.
Other than that I had zero issues with any playback and oddly one particular TV show that plays the audio out of sync in every Kodi based client I have (MrMC and Plex for Kodi) plays perfect through the TV app. So I guess I’m gonna be using the TV app to some extent whether I like it or not.
pointer shows up and you can click on stuff, but scrolling does nothing and worst part of all is that you have a ‘hover’ feature on the top menu meaning if you click with the cursor you go to a different menu than if you select it with the buttons.
Rediculous CRAP port from whatever base. bring back the option to OPT OUT of the new menu that was there. LET PEOPLE CHOOSE like you did a week ago.
You guys just pushed an alpha build to everyone.
The magic remote works fine for everything but the wheel. I am able to “point and select” shows etc.
I tried the Beta when it was offered and the new version is better than that.
It is still slow however not as bad as when it was trying to load everything to allow the “on deck” “recently added” etc to scroll across without the “…” page.
I do find the “Auto Loading” of the movies tv shows etc annoying when you accidentally press across instead of down when first opening the plex app. Takes time to load the dashboard originally then when you accidentally go across and back then have to wait for it to load again.
Same issue with the libraries here - I have ‘kids movies’ & ‘grown up movies’ libraries & it just seems to now bundle them together by default - yes you can change the libraries, but it’s a pain in the a** & not something I can easily teach a 4 year old whose just looking to quickly watch Thomas the Tank Engine.
100% Agree - this update is garbage. Agreed with the annoyance of the Libraries not being easily accessible and the buffering pop up. Took me a few goes to figure out why all my Anime was being shown instead of the TV shows. My kids are just as confused. This UI is a step backwards - the slide started when they took away Plex Home Theater and has continued since… What happened to the Plex who cared about their community and the wanted the best media player? Did they get purchased by Apple and care about design over function? Shame on you Plex.
