@BigWheel My Plex app on my LG55OLEDB6V keeps buffering every second after I skip a few minutes and/or resume any video. This issue can be reproduced with all my movies, regardless of the resolution and bitrate, with or without subtitles., with or without direct play or streaming. However, when I completely restart the movie from the beginning, it plays just fine. No other app (Netflix, Amazon Prime) has issues and all other Plex instances on desktops, laptops and mobile phones play just fine. The issue seems to be related to the LG plex app.
The only apps in use are Plex, Netflix and Amazon prime. Turning off the tv from the wall socket makes no difference. It’s connect through Wifi (5g). Tried ethernet, but has limited bandwith due to the 10/100mbit limit.
What you can try which I did a while ago is reserve/ static your TV, server LAN IP addresses in Router. That ties the Mac addresses and limits any TX and RX errors
Good idea, but there are no TX or RX errors in my network. The access point is really close to the TV. The TV already has a fixed IP, no conflicts and all the other apps run just fine. I can play a 4k movie with XPlay, so I’m quite confident the problems are within the Plex app.
Well here an idea left of field. I remember reading that some LG TV radio cards had issues with some channels on Wifi. So looking at the following reference it seems that different channels on each band are not born equal. Taking that into consideration could it be the card may not be totally compatible with all channels of a given band.
As I have stated and I have read in the forums many users do not exhibit your issue along with myself.
Thanks for all the suggestions. Wifi channel issues would imply other apps should have connection problems too, which is not the case. The Xplay app plays all movies without hiccups, including some 4k content. Also, I can play any movie perfectly from the beginning. Only when I pause, skip and resume I get buffering issues.
Unless there is interference or congestion. Wifi is not recommended even if it ac spec, it can be a troublesome option. Unfortunately your bent on wireless, so be it.
As I keep saying this issue is no apparent in my network and many others. I do not have issues with fast forward or pause.
To note, it is not good practice to leave a networked video in a paused state for an extended time. I suggest to use the Virtual termination symbol (X) in app controls being the most convenient available option. To return use play to return to start options of " Start from beginning" or "resume @ X "
To fast forward, use the arrow key or pointer( Available on LG TV’s with Magic Remote) upwards on remote to mark the timeline just above the virtual control of the UI. Then use left or right arrow key on remote to << or >>in timeline, release and the title will progress.
DO NOT use the virtual controls for << or >> as these are troublesome with some file types, which you have mentioned.
In my case the same thing happens. Model: LG 55UJ750V. It occurs with versions 1.17 and 1.18, especially with HEVC with subtitles PGS. I have got Nvidia 1060GTX for transcoding. WiFi and Ethernet is the same. Version 1.16 it’s ok.
This situation is driving me nuts. I just paused a movie, had dinner, came back, resumed the video. Buffering, buffering, hickup, buffering. There’s no way I can watch anything this way. The PMS only has 30% cpu and does HW transcoding on 1080p. Other devices play all movies without any problems. So I know the problem must be somewhere in the LG Plex App. How can I get a Plex employee to look at this issue? It used to be fine. I think it started a couple of updates ago.
This problem is happening on my LG 40UF770V aswell. Definitely appears to be something related to a recent update as I have my updates set to manual and I noticed it happening a day after updating PMS.
I don’t know if this helps at all but in my attempts at troubleshooting I noticed that my tv shows up on the web dashboard twice Picture Here and in alerts was announced twice, this was repeatable.
Also nothing to do with transcoding from what I could see as the speed was hovering consistantly at 3.0.
Another interesting thing I noticed (related or not I don’t know) is that when setting the allowed video quality on the LG Plex app, it is ignored if the media is 1080p, at least according to the web dashboard. Tried all 1080p limits and it ignored and just streamed it at 44Mbps, whereas setting the app to 720p it followed the limits.
Guess I’ll roll back in the hopes that solves this.
Can confirm rolling back fixed my issue immediately and this time when playing the same media as above the web dashboard only shows the TV once. Hope this helps someone down the line.
