Sorry, I didn’t mean to suggest it wasn’t dropping the resolution (or transcoding), just that I didn’t think the transcoder would automatically drop the target resolution based on quality settings.
As to why it’s transcoding, even when you have a compatible audio track selected, I don’t know. Best guess is similar to what I’ve seen with mine, that sometimes PMS incorrectly identifies the TV as an “HTML TV App” and uses a different client profile. This was tracked over in this thread but I’ve heard nothing since: “Unable to find client profile” errors on LG Smart TVs, Long Pause Before Playback
