Bottom line here is it’s NOT the Plex app.
The TV is the problem. Its internal certificate has expired and there is way to update it from LG (at this time).
I can share one UNOFFICIAL way around the problem if you want
Please read the following:
A non-exhaustive list of affected TVs:
| Product | Platform | Platform Version | App Version |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plex for LG | webOS | All versions lower than 5.0 | |
| Plex for LG | NetCast | All versions | |
| Plex for Samsung | Tizen | All versions | |
| Plex for Opera TV | Opera TV Store | All versions | |
| Plex for Smart TVs | netgem | All versions | |
| Plex for TiVo | TiVo | All versions | |
| Plex for VIDAA | VIDAA | All versions lower than 5.0 |
The definitive answer here –
When was the most recent TV Firmware update ?
If the resident certificate is expired and there are no updates forthcoming…
– Local televisions can be permitted to use No-Auth configuration
– Remote can also be configured to use No-Auth configuration but at User-Risk. (it can be done safely)
