Libraries do not update

Server Version#: 1.20.5.3600
Player Version#: 4.46.2
(File removed)
Hi there… I had a disk in the array my Libraries are located in fail. The disk was replaced and the rebuild seemed to go fine. I can see and play existing files from my libraries. However, I can not add any new files. When I hit scan library there is a brief flash and no scan takes place. If I remove a file to another drive so that it should be removed from the library, it remains showing and, of course, gives an error if you try and play it. But it never scans for new files. All files are named correctly using filebot. I’ve rebooted the server and restarted plex multiple times.

Edit the library.
Go to the “Add Folders” tab
Verify that all paths listed in there point to folders which are

  • existent
  • accessible
  • not completely empty!

Thanks for getting back. Yes all of them exist and are accessible. In fact all my old media play completely fine from the same top level plex folders.

What about the last requirement?

I’m not sure which one you’re referring to. My basic layout is a Plex folder. Underneath I have a folder for each Library etc, TV Shows, Movies etc. Under those there is a folder for each Movie or Show. Just to see if permissions could be the issue I had set the permissions for the Plex folder to Full Control for everyone. I also attempted to create a new Library called TV SHows 2 pointing to the exact same Folder “TV Shows”. And while I can play shows in that folder and see their Metadata fine. TV Shows does not see anything new or anything removed as the scan never really starts. TV Shows 2 doesn’t find anything. I also tried adding a new folder to TV shows and put a new copy of a show folder. Again it doesn’t seem to ever start the scan.

Are you saying that the affected library is only pointing to one media folder on disk?

I’m saying all libraries are affected. It does not scan any of them. Each library points to one folder that contains propagated folders beneath it.

From your logs, it looks as if you run your server under the “Administrator” Windows account.
That is a bad idea. Did you this just once perhaps? Because even then it might have rendered some files within the Plex data folder “read only” to all other user accounts.

I thought it could be permissions. But thats why I changed them to Full Control for Everyone temporarily and had that propagate down to all files within. I checked the files permissions just to be sure, they show as full control everyone.

Sorry I misread. See what ya mean. Let me try that.
