Library agent: Plex Movies

Hi

I use “Plex Movie” as my library agent to match titles and “Plex TV Series” as agent for Series.

Where is this data from? Is it something i can add to and request a change on or something similar?

For example, I have a movie, which can only be found under series and not movies.

The movie was intended to be a series but ended up being movie-cut/movie-release instead.

But for that reason, I cannot match it in the movie folder, getting the right title, actors, posters, resume and so on.

I hope my explanation makes sense.

Thanks.

The current-generation Plex agents are combining metadata from different sources – so it’s not always 100% transparent which part of the metadata originates from which of those sources.

Usually The Movie Database is a good starting point for most of the information. Although Plex Movie will also use some information from IMDb. Similarly the Plex TV Series agent will amend its information with data from e.g. TheTVDb.

Not entirely… would you mind sharing what movie/pilot episode turned into film you’re trying to match?

Hi

Sure, its called “Most Dangeous Game” from 2020 starring Liam Hemsworth.

I tried to search on google for more info and i found that it was still released as a series, but also had a 2 hour movie-cut released on Prime Video.

And this is the version i have and trying to match without succes. :frowning_face:

So in the series library i can sucesfully match it, but as a Season1 Episode1.

But not able to match in my movies library as this is not seen as a movie by the agent.

You cannot match series as movies or vice versa – if an item is listed as a tv series, you cannot match it from within a movie library (no matter how Amazon might be

Looks like the show you’ve linked actually consists of 27 episodes across 2 seasons.

These are hard to deal with. They are Quibi Webisodes which are only 5 to 10 minutes each and released as a tv series first but then sometimes get added as a movie later

Die Hart was the same. Season 1 was released as a series but then got changed to a movie. “Die Hart the Movie”. You can now add it as either a movie or tv show

Then Die Hart season 2 came out and which is a series making it impossible to keep with season 1 if you listed it as a movie

this is another one they did the same thing with

If you have one single file you can name it S01e01-e15 and put it in a tv library.

If you really want it in a movie library, you’ll have to add the metadata manually and hope it gets added as a true movie at some point in the future

@tom80H
I know that i can’t match series in tv library and vice versa.
Thats why my original question was about what database the agents look at and if i can somehow add to it or suggest changes or semilar.
But as i understand it from your answer, thats not possible.

@JaysPlex
I have “slight OCD” about my plex libraries. At least i like it clean and after a certain structure i have.
I know i can add titel, year, resume and other metadata, but is it possible to add actors and other metadata as well manually?
