Library Empty

Hey guys, something so simple is just not working for me, and that’s viewing mapped photos/video s in the library.

I have a Synology NAS, and Synology Photos works fine, however that no longer works on my TV so I have gone back to PLEX. I’ve worked with Synology, they can’t see anything wrong.

Hoping someone can help me, done this before and worked fine. Something weird going on

Are you following guides? Category : TV Show Files (Naming and Organizing) | Plex Support

I am now, can’t see how this helps me though?

ok then I probably misunderstood problem. Can you see things in the web app? Are there any errors when creating the libraries?

I am opening PLEX straight from my NAS server which takes me to the web app. I have no errors in creating libraries, it just does not show in the library. Having same problem across all media, so strange. Thanks for your help!!!

OK sounds like it is probably a permissions issue maybe. If your Synology is on DSM 7 i suspect one of pinned topics here will help Topics tagged server-synology

Thanks again, check permissions and looks ok, as in PlexMediaServer has access to folder. Also tried ‘re-linking’ server, but didn’t work.

If I may add here?

Recommend against using the pre-defined Synology shared folders.
Their products, VideoStation, AudioStation, and PhotoStation, declare exclusive ownership of those shares regardless what is granted.
This is a long standing issue with Synology packages.

Recommend:

  1. Create new shared folders, setting the permissions as you create them
  2. Move your content from the Synology pre-defined to the new shared folders.
  3. Delete the, now empty, pre-defined folders.
  4. Update your PMS Library sections to point to your new folders.

You’re a legend! Just created a new ‘test’ folder, dumped a few photos in there, re-mapped in PMS and I can see them! Who didn’t I think about doing this

Will move the rest across later, thanks again!

If I may follow up?

Instead of photo, how about Photos ?

Anything you want, actually

As an alternative example:

    Movie (year)/
       Movie (year).ext
  TV/
   ... stuff here

  Photos/
   ... likewise here

  Music/

There is a wide variety of ways to arrange.

Do whatever makes the most sense to you.
