Library home/shared home settings not being honoured

Server Version#: 1.22.3.4392 Windows PC
Player Version#: Web 4.56.4, numerous other devices (tested problem 1 and 2 on Apple TV, iOS, Windows Plex, Mac HTPC Plex, web local and plex.tv/web using Firefox and Safari).

I’ve been trying to use the settings located at Manage>Libraries>Manage Libraries to rejig my own home screen and that of my shared users. Many of the settings don’t seem to stick, though.

Problem 1:

I have a TV library that I want to be on my own home screen but not on the home screen of users I share it with. I presumed that I’d just need to set “Home” to checked and “Shared Users’ Home” to unchecked.

When I did this and checked with a sharee, they were seeing that library on the Home screen.

Am I misunderstanding how this should function, or is this a bug? This library WAS set to be visible and “Include on Home Screen and Global Search” when this test was carried out.

Problem 2:

Despite being checked for all my libraries, “Recently Added…” does not show up in my Library Recommendeds. For any library. It is definitely checked under “Library Recommended” for each library.

Problem 3:

For a good 15 minutes I was trying to get a library to show up on my Home screen by checking the Home checkbox. Every time I checked it it would uncheck itself. Eventually I remembered that I had set the library to “Exclude from Home Screen” in the library settings. Changing this let my check the checkboxes and have them stick, but didn’t help because of Problem 1 above. This seems a UI issue rather than a bug, perhaps some kind of warning that another setting is overriding the Manage Library settings to avoid confusion?

Hoping to get some clarification on if I’m expecting the wrong things or doing the wrong things or if these are just bugs I need to wait to be fixed. I’d really like some library on my own Home screen but don’t want to be cluttering my shared users’ home screens with them.

You can’t control what libraries appear on the sidebar (menu on left edge of the screen), that is set by the user. The settings you see control what shows on the Home Screen (main section on the right side) if the user has set the library to appear on the sidebar.

I’m not talking about the sidebar or pinned libraries. I’m talking about how the settings at Manage>Libraries>Manage Libraries appear on my and my sharee’s home screens. The libraries being discussed are pinned by both, but the settings used are still being ignored in the two different ways described. I never even mentioned the sidebar.

To clarify.

I set this setting as so:

My sharees see this on their homepage:

I find that finding the anime worth watching requires trawling through a lot that isn’t, and get requests for all kinds of things from my family, so it seriously clutters up home screens as I’m adding and removing things. I don’t really want to be filling the home screens of everyone with a bunch of anime most will have zero interest in. So I welcomed these settings that would let me keep track of it on my home screen but not clutter everyone else’s with it.

However, the settings seem to be completely ignored and I had to disable it using the Visibility toggle again.

Ok, I understand. I do see a bug. I will report this to the team.

Excellent, thank you!
