I recently spent many hours on my server library, fixing name matches on files, so that now, when I browse my library on the server computer (Windows 10) I’m treated to nearly perfect matches on all files. No more single-frame captures accompanied by a raw file name. And that’s nice. That’s why I bother to do the work. But when I go to watch something on my wired ethernet home network using my 2019 ShieldTV Pro and my TCL UHD tv, and I browse my library, none of my work has transferred. Why is this? Is there some kind of cache on the Shield player that I have to clear for it to read my library as it is now? Or has my energy spent on fixing matches been wasted since my fixes don’t affect the troublesome metadata on the files themselves? What’s going on here?
Yes, the Shield does have a cache, but it shouldn’t be remembering all of that. You can try clearing the app cache.
Check if you have set up a second server on the Shield.
If you did that, the server on the shield is completely separate from the one on your Windows machine.
None of the metadata edits you made on the Windows server are replicated on the Shield server.
If you don’t want to maintain 2 servers, it is best to disable the server on the Shield. You can do so in the preferences of the Plex app on the Shield.
There is a built-in server on the Shield, yes, but I have never set it up and it has no library and no content in it. How could it be affecting my Windows library
It won’t. I was just throwing in a possible cause.
