I seem to be having a similar issue, if a folder already exists, i.e. a tv series, I can add a new episode and the media will show up. If I am adding a new show or a new movie, hence a new folder to an existing master folder, the folder shows up but no media. Plex is saying there is no content. My Plex library is extensive and I have been using Plex for almost 9 years so I know the media is formatted correctly.
Is your issue about Plex not recognizing your media or about not being able to access your library in folder view?
As for not being able to display the content of individual folders within Plex for iOS… that’s a known/reported issue and Plex is looking into it.
It is not recognizing the new media at all now. The files are properly formatted and in the proper folders on my hard drives but they do not show up. If I go into library management and look at folder view, the folders are there but no new media.
I’ve moved this into a new thread. Please don’t hijack other threads with different topics… that’s just causing confusion.
So… let’s get some details:
- what version of Plex Media Server do you have installed
- on what platform do you run your server (e.g. Windows/Mac/Linux, some NAS – what models, version)?
- how did you name those files? – can you provide some example/screenshot with the actual file names and the folder structure (from the folder linked to your Plex library to the actual files)?
- did you manually trigger a library scan or do you have your library configured to automatically / periodically scan for updates?
Version 1.19.3.2843, Mac OS Catalina, I currently have 10tb of files on the PMS they are formatted correctly. As a matter of note, the library that this initially started happening in has 73 tv show folders each with many season folders holding dozens of episodes. I created a new library, renamed, with the exact same files. All folders, all levels show up, no media. PMS says that the library is empty. I have done multiple manual scans as well as automatic scans.

The most probable scenario seems to be that you setup the new library with the wrong media kind.
If you create a movie library and add tv-show files, Plex will ignore those (and vice versa).
If you want somebody to look at your logs… please don’t upload 50 individual files but the original ZIP file Plex created (I suppose you have Safari configured to open/unpack “safe files”). If you need to upload 50 individual files, please wait until the upload is completed before submitting your response.
sorry about the upload, I just dragged and dropped the upload and once I did all hell broke loose.
It is not wrong media kind. After nine years of creating my server, pretty sure I know types of media and how to name them. Additionally it is not recognizing files that were previously in another library and being watched regularly. Also it is not accepting ANY new media in any of the 24 libraries I have.
have you already checked your PMS’s database for corruption?
