Library only works on Photo Libraries

Hi hello
I’m new to Plex

I configured plex on a synology NAS, The main idea is to organize all my private photos and videos, I have already encountered a problem that I am not able to overcome.

I can only create new libraries if I choose photo libraries !
If you choose any of the other types, movies, TV series, music, other videos, my content is not listed and
do not appears anywhere.

Can someone help me, what am I doing wrong?

Tks
Humberto

Can you share some more details where things get stuck?

  • Is it the library not being created properly or after creation it’s not showing any media?
  • What media is in the folder you try to add to that new library? – is it all videos vs. all photos or mixed?

Yes , sure.

The library is being created normally:
Main menu - Add library - Select type - add folders etc
After the creations my content is only shown if I have chosen PHOTOS on the Select type.

I’ve tested everything, folders with only videos, folders with only photos and mixed folders.
I always have the same result, only works if I choose PHOTOS on the Select type.
And only in that case - PHOTOS on the Select type - I can see everything , photos and videos.

can you give an example of the folder structure and what video file types you’re trying to add (incl. the schema they’re named after)?

May I augment Tom’s post here with a quick point-of-order for new Synology users?

Synology uses Linux as the OS. It mandates each individual user be given access to specific shares. Please make certain you have given user Plex access to the media share you wish to have Plex index and add to your Library.
