Just downloaded and installed the curret version of Plex on my synology. Opened Plex through Synology package centre
However, on Plex, when I navigate to my TV shows (volume1/Plex/TVshows) and select add library it just says “cannot save changes right now”. It doesnt even try to think about anything, just says “no!!”
Was PMS previously installed on the Synology?
Do you know if the “Plex” share previously existed?
If I understand you correctly, yes, went I set PLex up yesterday it didnt ask me to install the new PMS even after opened through Synology app.
Today, it did ask me to update, which i did.
So it was working yesterday with the “old” version. Not today once updated.
okay, so it allowed me to set up one for Movies. It’s updating. I have now tried TV Shows too and although there nothing updating yet, it allowed me to add. Maybe it was just doing something in the backgroud over the last hour or so.
Would you please open File Station.
If you don’t see “Plex” share, go to File Station - Shared Folders - EDIT the Plex share - Permissions tab – give your username R/W permission.
Now navigate into the Plex share until you see “Logs”. Right-click Compress to Logs.zip
Please download and attach that file here fore me to review.
Hi. It is working as nomral now, so I dont need to trouble you
Do not place your media in /volume1/Plex. That directory is reserved for Plex use. There should be files with the title “Please do not place any media files here” in several languages in that directory
See the Installation & Setup and FAQ documents regarding media organization (Organizing Your Media , FAQ 6 ).

If you’re new to Plex then reading this thread in sequence is probably the best approach.
This will show you how to install Plex on your Synology and then suggest a couple ways you can organize your media.

So where should you save your library too? I didn’t/don’t see warnings

You can place it pretty much anywhere – as long as Plex can access the files.
Just don’t use the Plex
share. That is reserved for Plex’ server data, not your media.
See the two documents linked in my earlier post. They have additional details.
Oh, sorry, I missed an /library in my first post. My files are in the library folder of your above screen shot. Is that okay??

Absolutely not.
Keep it out of that Share entirely.
Anywhere outside the Plex share should do (as per the links FordGuy61 just re-referred).
okay. Ive watched a number of youtubes on plex setup and they all store files in there

I suppose you’ll find the installation guide / how-to linked by FordGuy61 above more instructive and helpful. It’s not all that hard
Long story short… there’s a reason the Plex share is hidden by default
As engineer who:
is responsible for Synology support
wrote and maintains the Synology installation packaging
wrote and maintains the Synology FAQ.
placed warnings in the Plex share to NOT place media there in 6 languages.
contacted one of the more popular YouTube authors about his video (which he agreed was in error) . I also posted the Syno Setup FAQ there as well.
Please Do Not Place Media in the Plex share.
