Library Problems

For some reason Plex is seeing Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 as the same movie. They are displayed with a small “2” in the corner, indicating two versions I imagine. How do I correct this?

Did you list the original as Fantasia (1940)? The year is required to distinguish which version when a name has been reused.

I did exactly that for both movie versions, and they even show up when you examine the listing (which indicates the number 2 in the corner of the BD graphic). It really is baffling.

There is a similar problem with my LOTR Extended Editions which has each movie of the trilogy on two disks, part one and part two. Plex sees only the first part.

I highly recommend the tool FileBot. It allows you to verify then it renames the movie in a manner which PMS don’t have issues with.

The key to “Part 1” and “Part 2” movies is how they were released. If released as separate titles in the theaters, the ‘Part’ is integral to the title.
If ripped as two pieces or on disc as two discs comprising a single title, then this applies.

You make 1 movie directory and put the ‘part1’ and ‘part2’ file in it.

Edit:

Mult-disc renaming is a manual task after you get the core title. Filebot does single-file renames with ease.

I use Linux so my path separator may be different than yours. Edit appropriately. There is never an incorrect match of failure to match with this.

Movie renaming format (right click Match , edit format, switch to movie mode).

./{n} ({y})/{n} ({y})/

After the rename in the local directory is complete, move it into position in your actual library
